Cheekaboo- Sales Topper at Fasig-Tipton February

Grade 2 Winner Cheekaboo came in strong and finished with a flourish to be the Sales Topper at the Fasig-Tipton February Winter Sale fetching $300,000 for consignor Small Batch Sales. Owned by Joe and Stephanie Ciaglia along with partners Michael Burns and Sharon Alesia, Cheekaboo won the 2016 Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita Park along with the 2016 Campanile Stakes (Listed-Restricted) at Golden Gate Fields and placed in 5 other California stakes.

An earner of $371,995 with a record of 24-3-3-7, the Peter Eurton trained chestnut mare was purchased by Ciaglia and partners on the advice of Bloodstock Agent Larry Zap at the 2014 Barrett's October Select Yearling Sale for $55,000. Bred in California by M.Auerbach, LLC., Richard Rosenberg and Barry Abrams, Cheekaboo is by Unusual Heat out of the Souvenier Copy mare Sandy Cheeks and was bred and foaled in California at Harris Farms.

Cheekaboo is a maiden mare and was purchased by KR Japan. She becomes the 2nd highest priced mare by Unusual Heat ever to sell at public auction, behind only Majestic Heat who sold at the 2018 November Fasig-Tipton Sale in foal to Uncle Mo for $625,000. She is the 3rd Sales Topper owned or bred by M.Auerbach, LLC. joining 2011 Barrett's October Select Yearlings Sales Topper Real Heat and 2012 Barrett's January Mixed Sales Topper Sci Fi Kin.
