Dr Dorr Opens Up In The Santana Mile

Fresh off of an impressive allowance win at Santa Anita Park, Dr. Dorr parlayed that success into an impressive stakes score taking the Santana Mile in wire to wire fashion. Piloted by jockey Joe Talamo, Dr. Dorr was sent off as the 11-10 favorite and did not disappoint as he ran right to the front and kept going for an impressive 4 legnth score under a hand ride. Trained by co-breeder Bob Baffert for his owner-wife Jill Baffert, Dr. Dorr now has a career record of 10-4-0-1 and earnings of $168,320. Grade 2 Winner Majestic Heat Retires

2017 Bayakoa Stakes (Grade 2) winner Majestic Heat has been retired from racing after her 5th place finish on Saturday in Santa Anita Park’s Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes as announced by owner-racing manager Madeline Auerbach. A California Bred daughter of sire Unusual Heat, Majestic Heat was trained for the bulk of her career by Hall of Fame conditioner Richard Mandella and was known for her versatility and durability during her four seasons of racing. Majestic Heat is a 4 time stakes winner on both turf and dirt while also winning stakes both sprinting and routing. Sent off at 11-1 and a distant longshot to balley-hooed stablemate Ten Blessings, Dr. Dorr took to the wet fast slop at Santa Anita Park and scored an impressive come from behind driving win in a rapid 1:14.10. Under the capable handling of jockey Joe Talamo, the 5 year old dark brown gelding scored his first victory of 2018 and his 3rd lifetime win raising his career earnings total to $122, 120 with a record of 9-3-1-1. Miraculously, a victim of terrible racing luck and strange things in her first four career starts was able to overcome even more chaos and was put up as the winner in a Maiden Claiming $50K at Gulfstream Park.
