Auerbach Bred Yearlings Light Up The Sales Board at Barretts August

Led by the sale of Hip 42 (Unusual Heat-Dancing Jo Filly)the group Auerbach Bred Yearlings affectionately referred to as the Fab Four grossed $282,000 at the Barretts August Select Yearling Sale at Del Mar.

Consigned by Harris Farms for M.Auerbach, LLC. 3 of the 4 offered yearlings sold including Hip 42 who was the 2nd highest priced yearling in the sale and the highest priced Unusual Heat ever sold in California. She also takes the crown as the highest priced Auerbach Bred yearling ever sold eclipsing Heat of The Year, a 2005 Barrett's October Yearling Sale graduate who fetched $165,000. The stunning Chestnut daughter of Unusual Heat and Dancing Jo (Johannesburg) was purchased by Mike McMahon-Jamie Hill Bloodstock and along with partner Rick Gold and trainer Dan Blacker for $200,000. She will be stabled in Blacker's California barn and M.Auerbach, LLC. will retain a small ownership percentage in her.

Hip #40 sold for $52,000 to trainer Howard Zucker on behalf of Starship Stables. The dark brown Unusual Heat colt out of the Ole mare Chi Chi Nette will also be a Southern California trainee. He is the full brother to multiple stakes winners Majestic Heat and Mensa Heat along with current stakes placed runner Real Heat.

Hip #18 was purchased for $30,000 by trainer William E. Morey on behalf of an ownership group including Michael and Melinda Nentwig. He is the 2nd foal out of the Alphabet Soup mare Strawberry Flash and is by Unusual Heat. He will be a part of Morey's California stable.

Finally, Hip #82, now known as Springster, RNA'd for $24,000 and will be kept to race by the Auerbachs in California for a partnership that is currently being formed. She is from the family of 2 time California Champion Lethal Heat and graded stakes performer Huntsville.
