A September to Remember
September 2018 started off strong and finished with a bang for Auerbach Bred runners across America with wins, a new stakes horse and lots of action. The month got off to banner start with Prince Earl remaining undefeated with an impressive open company Allowance win to close out the Del Mar Summer meet. Piloted again by Martin Garcia, the 3 year old Paddy O'Prado gelding out of Soo Steamy (Unusual Heat) powered home in the last 1/4 mile to gain the victory in a sparkling 1:34.33 for the mile on the turf. Bred by M.Auerbach, LLC. and sold in the 2017 August Barrett's Select Yearling Sale, the Phil D'amato pupil now boasts career earnings of $80,760 for his 2 career starts-wins and is targeting the November 4th Grade 2 Twilight Derby at Santa Anita Park for his next race.
Next up on the ledger was 13th career victory for 8 year old Heat Flash. The win over the turf at Remington Park on September 13 was his 4th of 2018 for Heat Flash and moved his career earnings over $300,000 to a gaudy $307,915. The bay colt by Unusual Heat out of the Show Dancer mare Ballistic Lady. was bred by M.Auerbach, LLC. and Barry Abrams way back in 2010.
September 22 brought the first career stakes placing for 2 year old colt Our Silver Oak as he finished a game and driving 3rd in the Listed, open company Barrett's Juvenile Stakes at Los Alamitos Race Course. The gray son of Unusual Heat and Strawberry Flash (Alphabet Soup) was bred in California by M.Auerbach, LLC.. Our Silver Oak is trained by Billy Morey and now has a record of 3-1-0-1 and earnings of $41,000. He is a graduate of the 2017 August Barrett's Select Yearling Sale.
Finally, September ended with a splash as both America's Tale and Real Heat recorded victories on the last day of the month. America's Tale went wire to wire under the twin spires at Churchill Downs winning an Allowance race on the dirt at one mile. The 3 year old bay lass is a daughter of Gio Ponti and America's Friend (Unusual Heat) and was bred in Kentucky by M.Auerbach, LLC. and Catherine Parke. The 2016 Keeneland September graduate now has a record of 13-3-3-1 and career earnings of $164,823 for owner Naveed Chowhan and trainer Bernie Flint.
Real Heat captured a claiming race at Zia Park for his first victory of 2018 and the 7th of his career. The 2011 Barrett's October Yearling Sales Topper was bred in California by M.Auerbach, LLC. and Barry Abrams and now has career earnings of $279,321 to go along with being multiple black type stakes placed.
